On this page we will be posting volunteering opportunities in the Forest of Dean within faith based groups and churches. Where possible there will be a link to further information. If you have a volunteering opportunity you would like us to add, contact Kate: firstname.lastname@example.org
If you want to volunteer but can’t see anything here that seems to fit the bill, do get in touch. We’d love to help you find that special place where you and your skills will be welcomed and used for the benefit of God’s kingdom.
We also provide support to young people through our mentor programme.
We aim to demonstrate God’s love in a practical way and provide opportunities for young people to explore the Christian Faith in a way that is relevant to them.
We need the following volunteers to:
- Help with our growing youth clubs for children aged 7-11 years and Young people 11-16 years.
- Mentor young people who are struggling in a variety of ways – training and support will be provided
- Be a mentor Coordinator to work alongside the current coordinator – This person will need to attend a 2 day training and have suitable experience
- Write and review policies and procedures, some administration, grant applications and fund raising

Linking Lives FOD
A new befriending project in the Forest of Dean. Our project is about addressing issues of isolation and loneliness in the Forest of Dean. Our exciting plan it to create a befriending project which reaches and supports people through home visits, engagement in social events and signposting to necessary agencies.
Our motivation is from Isaiah 61:2 ‘He has sent me (us) to comfort all those who are sad, and to help the sorrowing people of Jerusalem (Forest of Dean) I will give them a crown to replace their ashes, and oil of gladness to replace their sorrow, and clothes of praise to replace their spirit of sadness. Then they will be called trees of goodness, trees planted by the Lord to show His greatness.’ (NCV)
If you feel you could offer an hour a week and would like to explore becoming a befirender, please contact Louise Maclay.
